Beroe signs Anton Ognyanov

Left wing Anton Ognyanov signed a contract with Beroe today. Ognyanov is a former player of the club, having played in the youth academy. He is joining the Stara Zagora side as a free agent, having terminated his contract with Levski a few days ago. Ognyanov already played 45 minutes for his new team in the friendly against Vereya, which Beroe won with 2:0.

Anton Ognyanov is born on June 30, 1988. His youth career started in Beroe where he was supervised by coach Zhivko Mirenski. Ognyanov plays on the left wing of the attack, but can also be used as a left back. In 2006 he joined the first team of Beroe under coach Ilian Iliev who on his side was appointed as manager only a few days earlier at that time. In his first spell at Beroe Ognyanov played 10 games for Beroe.

Ognyanov left Beroe on January 10, 2008 when the financial turmoil of the club left all of the players of that time without contracts and joined Nafteks. In Burgas he played 20 games and scored one goal. In the 2009/2010 season Ognyanov played for Minyor Radnevo but in the winter back joined Beroe’s U21 team after 17 games and 1 goal for Minyor. During his time at the B Team of Beroe he also played two games for the first team in A grupa.

In the summer of 2010 Ognyanov signed a contract with Botev Plovdiv where he was lined up in 13 games. In the beginning of 2011 he joined Svilengrad 1921. He appeared 10 times for the team and scored one goal. Between 2011 and 2013 Ognyanov is part of the team of Lyubimetz 2007. After 68 games and 18 goals for the team in B grupa and A grupa he is a target of all of the big name clubs in Bulgaria. However, Levski Sofia, managed to close a deal with Lyubimetz president Atanas Stalev for the player and signed Ognyanov in the beginning of 2014 on a 2,5 years deal.

During the preseason friendly against Viktoria Pilzen, however, Ognyanov suffers a severe injury. The diagnosis ruptured his ligament of ankle and sprained left leg leads to a operative intervention which prevents the player from participating in any game until the end of the 2013/2014 season. After many manager changes in Levski the coach at that time Georgi Ivanov only lines up Ognyanov in 4 games which lead to his contract termination at the beginning of January 2015.

Ognyanov has secured a bronze medal at the youth championship for U19 players in 2005 and has two second places in the international tournament Yuliyan Manzarov with the team in 2005 and 2006. In the second year Ognyanov was also named best attacking player at the tournament wearing Beroe’s jersey.
